NGV Community Visitor Increase by 300% for the first two week of June 2008

Since the Increase of petrol 4 June 2008. NGV Community site also encounter increasing in page hits

Last month May 2008 total page load was 33K with total of 8K unique visitors.
This month June 2008 with just 2 week pass by already reaching 92K page loads and 20K

The total page load and unique visitor increase more than 300%

Refer to
http://my7.statcounter.com/project/standard/stats.php?granularity=monthly&project_id=2136461

My email has been floated with lot of inquiry about Conversion. It was estimated the NGV conversion business has increased by at least 400% according to one of the installer source.

Most of the installers in Klang Valley have to put the customer in queue as the demand for conversion increase tremendously just the last two weeks.

With the increase in conversion, I can expected to see this coming few months more car problems posting in the community as it is expected during the initial stage of conversion. This is because our car was design to burn petrol and not CNG. To adjust the car engine to burn CNG, you need to have proper service to your car engine if possible to good condition, get a right engine oil , gearbox oil, good coolant and spark plug. All this information are available in the forum. All you need, is to do a search in the forum using the sponsored google search engine at the top of the forum for the recommended brand for the above oil or coolant and spark plug.

No doubt that everyone is looking for alternative ways to save travel expenses. For those that unable to convert at this moment you can look for other alternative to save fuel . There are lot of fuel saving device out there that able save fuel.

Next we will discuss more ways to save fuel consumption.

Increase Petrol Price mean More $aving per Year for NGV users!

By refering to my posting http://philipngngv.blogspot.com/2005_12_01_archive.html

With the increase of petrol price by 40%

My latest saving as at June 2008 is

Price per Kilometer comparision
Petrol RM0.22 / km (Before Increase RM1.92)
Petrol RM0.31 / km (After Increase RM2.70 increase 40%)
NGV RM0.06 / km

Saving of RM0.16 /km (Before Increase RM1.92)
Saving of RM0.25 /km (After Increase RM2.70 increase 40%)

that is about 73% saving (Before Increase RM1.92)
that is about 80% saving (After Increase RM2.70 increase 40%)

If I were to drive 60km daily for 30 days per month.

Total distance 60 x 30 = 1800km
Total fuel price consume per month:Petrol RM0.22 x 1800 = RM396 (Before Increase)
Total fuel price consume per month:Petrol RM0.31 x 1800 = RM558 ( After Increase)
Natural Gas(CNG) RM0.06 x 2100 = RM108

Saving per month is RM288 (Before Increase RM1.92)
Saving per month is RM450 (After Increase RM2.70 increase 40%)

Yearly Saving RM288 x 12 = Rm3456
Yearly Saving RM450 x 12 = Rm5400

The above calculation is base on my car condition in 2006. Now is 2008, let reduce the saving by 10% due to the reason, the get car older and become inefficient in fuel consumption.

Yearly Saving Rm3456 x 0.90 = RM3110
Yearly Saving Rm5400 x 0.90 = RM4860

With the additional rebate of RM625 upon paying road tax for car below 2000cc , my saving per year would be

RM4860 + Rm625 = RM5485 per year

Per Month Saving RM5485/12 = RM457

Investment Point of View
If you were to get RM457 per month from bank for Fixed Deposit at 3.7% per year, you have to deposit RM148,243 in bank.

Dear Malaysian, for an average income family, do you think you have RM148,243 in Bank?

or willing

to invest around RM2900 to RM3200 for Carburetor Car
or invest around Rm5500 to RM6500 for Fuel Injection Car

for NGV Conversion.

Installment available for credit card user. Use the saving for installment. Probably you got extra $ after paying the installment .

Worries?
1)Stop worry about queue ?
You can always find the right time to pump NGV. Furthermore, more and more has been built lately which mean less queue. The best about converting to NGV, you still have the option to use petrol, just in case run out of gas.
2) Worry no power?
Visit our forum. http://www.ngvcommunity.com
on ways to increase power.

Why wait?

Petrol Price Increase today 4 June 2008 to RM2.70 / Litre

The petrol price increase from Rm1.92 to RM2.70 today which is about 40% increase.

By referring to Petrol price for the past 18 years since 1990

before 1990 - RM 0.89
Year 1990 - RM 1.10 (increase RM 0.21)
01/10/2000- RM 1.20 (increase RM 0.10)
20/10/2001- RM 1.30 (increase RM 0.10)
01/05/2002- RM 1.32 (increase RM 0.02)
31/10/2002- RM 1.33 (increase RM 0.01)
01/03/2003- RM 1.35 (increase RM 0.02)
01/05/2004- RM 1.37 (increase RM 0.02)
01/10/2004- RM 1.42 (increase RM 0.05)
05/05/2005- RM 1.52 (increase RM 0.10)
31/07/2005- RM 1.62 (increase RM 0.10)
28/02/2006- RM 1.92 (increase RM 0.30)
04/06/2008- RM 2.70 (increase RM 0.78)

It is the worst increase in history.

Wondering why should we always compare ourselves with Thailand, Singapore and South Korea which are net importers of oil?

Even Indonesia has just declared itself as net importer recently due to its aging oil field and lack of foreign investment in exploration in anticipation to political instability.

Why does Malaysia need to compare its oil price with these net importing countries whereby we are net exporter of oil in the world?

Why! Why! Why!

Just a day after the announcement of the increases, the following developments have taken place:
1) Bus and lorry companies announced that they are increasing charges or will be forced to stop services;
2) The Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers said its members will pass on any increase in costs to consumers;
3) Hawkers and other food operators will wait and see before raising prices; and
4) The KLCI closed 29.56 points down, to 1223.56 points. Plantation and banking counters as well as PLUS were the most affected.

It was a good news for NGV user that the Natural Gas price remain the same.

Is time to convert to NGV today!

Official Authorised agent for NGV conversion

As at 3 April 2006, Hydrotech Enterprise (a company that I setup) has been official appointed as Gajah Gas Sdn Bhd Authorised NGV conversion agent for KL/Cheras area. You can write to me for quotation for the NGV Conversion for carburetor and fuel injection car for personal car and company cars.

FYI: In my previous blog on ROI. During the last increase of petrol price on 28 Feb 2006. There is an increase of 20% on the petrol price (RM1.92/litre) but not on the CNG gas that use by the NGV car which is still RM0.68/litre. My ROI was suddenly shorten by 20% to a about year+ instead of 16.6 months as calculated. Imagine if the government increase the price again next year in 2007. The ROI will definitely be faster. Start investing in NGV kit today. Start saving today.

Refer to blog section for how much you or your company can save in a year.

2. Government will make sure the increase will not burden the people. "The Kerajaan akan pastikan increase tidak membebankan"
3. Government cannot afford the subsidy. "Kerajaan tidak mampu lagi menampung subsidi."
4. Government guarantee it will not increase the price until end of this year. "Kerajaan memberi jaminan harga runcit petroleum tidak akan dinaikkan lagi pada TAHUN INI."

Will government increase after that?

Start to act now. Use NGV.

How to Increase performance in CNG car - Part 1

Well, I think you all been waiting for this article for a while.

Here are the few steps:-

1) Modify your normal plug to side gapping. Visit this site for more information.
http://performanceunlimited.com/documents/plugsidegapping.html
The side gapped plug exposes more of the spark path to the open combustion chamber than the Standard version, as well as even the Splitfire® or Bosch+4® types.

2) Get a thicker plug cable for better current.

3) Clean your air filter frequent so that better air flow into the engine.

4) Get Dynamic Ionizer. It is a ceramic flow catalyst made of various radioactive natural ores. The principle of this flow catalyst is that the fuel or air clustered unexcited ion in the line is converted into an excited state and neutralized electro magnet wave by the direct ionizing effect of DI cores. It breaks down large ions into smaller ion pairs; this improves the bonding efficiency makes significantly increasing the output energy from burning. It is capable for applications in many other ways due to its maximizing the fluid`s molecule density due to ionization, which can make acceleration all chemical reaction.

http://www.toa-corp.co.jp/eg/garage/ionizer.htm

5) Use magnet on the petrol and gas line that direct to the carburetor.
Fuel mainly consists of hydrocarbons. Groupings of hydrocarbons, when flowing through a magnetic field, change their orientations of magnetization in a direction opposite to that of the magnetic field. The molecules of hydrocarbon change their configuration. At the same time intermolecular force is considerably reduced or depressed. These mechanisms are believed to help to disperse oil particles and to become finely divided. In addition, hydrogen ions in fuel and oxygen ions in air or steam are magnetized to form magnetic domains which are believed to assist in atomizing fuel into finer particles.

Made your own magnet today. Get Neodymium Iron Boron magnet . It is the strongest magnet in the market.

6) More to come ................

Mileage of my car and Tips on CNG / NGV car

In average, with a full tank of gas about RM8.5, with a Wira 1.5, you can go about 130km. This is city driving range.

It is about RM0.065 per KM. Compare to previously RM0.185 per KM if using petrol. After petrol increase (28 Feb 2006) my petrol mileage have increase from RM0.185 to RM0.22 .

I like to goto Tanming Jaya NGV station as they have attendant. They open from early morning to 11pm. They are three pumps there. I like to use the left pump as it pump more than the right pump with higher pressure.

For your information, you need to stop your car engine while pumping the gas into the gas cylinder. According to the attendance, the heat from the engine will direct back to the hose and causing the connector and hose to to heat up. Once it is full, you pay and drive away.

If you goto KLCC, you have to pump on your own and pay at the counter.

I start using my cng conversion kit at 122,620km on my car meter. It is almost 1000km and I haven't pump in any petrol into my car. It is running cleaner with less carbon deposit in my engine. The engine oil is cleaner.

If you need to tune your CNG car, you can also goto a friend of mine that working from 8:30pm onwards at Kg. Baru of Jalan Muda Abdul Aziz Petronas to do the adjusment. It is cheaper and he is good at it. Write to me if you need his contact information.

More tips:
1) It is advice to change a new set of plugs for better performance. Normal plug will do. Reduce the gap to 1mm .

2) DO NOT switch the mode from petrol to gas before the petrol finishing burn in the chamber. It will spoil the plug and affect the engine performance and it might start jerking. While in idle mode, you can still run your car for about 100m, then stop a while press the gas peddle hard and maintain to 3000 rpm. When petrol finish, it will drop, when it drop to 1200rpm, switch to gas mode with a few step on the pedal.

3) Always start your car in the morning with petrol mode to warm the engine. It is the same if your car is stop for more than half an hour.

Engine Inspection at PUSPAKOM

End of December 2005, I went to PUSPAKOM (http://www.puspakom.com.my) for engine inspection and certification that my car is currently in Dual Mode combustion i.e. Petrol and Gas.

I arrived in the morning around 10:30am at PUSPPAKOM at Wangsa Maju. There are two entrance, i drove to the left hand site of the entrance. Then I park my car at a Special Inspection Area and walk to a registration counter nearby. Then I went to a payment counter to pay the inpection fees of RM15 and pass them all the installation documents to them. You will get a receipt. DO NOT LOSE this receipt. You need it to get your inspection certificate later.

Waited for one and half hour, then only reach my turn. Luckily the Special Inspection Area is covered parking lot with 3 lanes. Before the Inspector arrive, I have to open the Car Bonet, make sure the engine number and Chasis number is clearly visible to the Inspector. The inspector will carbonate the number with a pencil. Then the inspector went to the back of the car to carbonate the ngv tank serial number. Then I have to wait for a senior inspector to sign the inspection certificate. Since I it is already 12pm, the senior inspector alerady went out for lunch and I have to wait until 2pm for him to get back. I get the certificate at 2:30pm. FOR your information you do not need to drive to car exhaust inspection area after the inspector has check your engine number and chasis number. Park your car at open parking area while waiting for your certificate to be announced to you. They will call your car number plate. Present them your receipt and they pass the certificate.

Then I decide went to JPJ to update my registration number. JPJ is next to PUSPAKOM. I pickup the appropriate form for changing the registration card information from a counter at the ground floor. It was free. You need to fill in three forms where one of the form is duplicated. Then I went to the back of the building to climb up the staircase to first floor. It was a long queue to get a queue number. It was 3pm at that time. I decided to leave and come other day.

On January 9, 2006, I went to JPJ in the morning and I arrive at 9am. No one in the queue. I pickup a number with 4 people in front of me. The officier update their computer with my new car information. The officer just use her pen to change the information on the registration card and chop on top. She updated the Road Tax with an adjustment. Since early last year 2005, there was a reduction in roadtax of 50% on my car for below 1500c. My car which was RM213.60 yearly wen down to RM106.80 . For CNG car, there is another 25% reduction. Again my road tax went down from RM106.80 to RM80.10 yearly.

I would advice you go early in the morning before the PUSPAKOM open if possible 7:30am. Reading news paper while waiting for PUSPAKOM to open. Then straight away goto JPJ, fill in form. Goto first floor, get number and done.

If you need to change personal information on the car, you need to photostat your Identification Card . (MYCARD) and pass to them as well.

ROI (Return of Investment) calculation and savings

There are few factors to consider when calculating the ROI.
1) Your current vehicle fuel consumption mileage compare to NGV mileage per km.
and
2) How far do you travel daily? The further you drive the faster the ROI.

At petrol price of RM1.92 per litre as after 28 February 2006. My current mileage for Wira 1.5L aeroback carburetor is about RM0.22 per Kilometer after the petrol increase.

Currently, my NGV mileage is RM0.06 per kilometer for city driving. The NGV mileage will be better if you were to run on highway and can go down to RM0.05 per km.

Price per Kilometer comparision
Petrol RM0.22 / km
NGV RM0.06 / km

Saving of RM0.16 /km that is about 73%

If I were to drove 60km daily for 30 days per month.

Total distance 60 x 30 = 1800km

Total fuel price consume per month:
Petrol RM0.22 x 1800 = RM396
Natural Gas(CNG) RM0.06 x 2100 = RM108

Saving per month is RM288

The installation of NGV conversion kit in malaysia for carburetor :
about RM3000 at most.

How long (month) do I need to drive for actual return of my NGV kit investment?
RM3000 / RM288 = 10.4 months

In about 10.4 months or 18720 km (1800km x 10.4 mth) you will get back your investment .

Investment Point of View
(Which one do you invest? Fixed Deposit or NGV Conversion?)

Imagine if you were to put RM3000 into bank for Fixed Deposit at 3.7% per year, you will only get back RM9.25 per month.

Now you get RM288 of return per month for RM3000 of investment. That is 115.2% per year of interest. Where can you get such bank that offer that much of interest.

If you were to get RM288 per month from bank for Fixed Deposit at 3.7% per year, you have to deposit RM93405.

Why not invest RM3000 for the NGV conversion kits to start your saving unless you have RM93405 in your pocket to earn the interest of RM288 per month.

Remember, the saving will be greater if you were to use your car for highway travelling.

I am saving RM3456 (RM288 x 12) a year for just for normal city driving range. Imagine if you are a sales man and driving outstation a lot. How much do you save?

Furthermore you will also save on the Car Service as the engine oil is cleaner now and also save on the road tax by 25%. Roughly per year I will save more than RM4000

Interesting Facts:
Investing in NGV Conversion Kit is like getting a new Fixed Deposit certificate of amount RM4000 every year , year after year. How would you like it?

or

Renting a house that does not need buy but you still get rental of RM340 per month from the tenant.

Summary:
I am just driving a Proton Wira 1.5. If you were to drive a MPV, VAN, Lorry, higher CC car or driving outstation. The amount save will be multiply.

My First Full Tank of Gas

On the 17 Dec 2006 morning, I went to Tamming Jaya Petronas to fill in my first tank of Natural Gas. I was having difficulty locating the place to pump the gas at first. It was at the site of the station where you have to queue at the back of the station. There is a sign written for Taxi only. Maybe it is because majority of the NGV users are Taxi driver.

There are two station and only one occupy. So i drive in the empty slot and fill in my gas. There is an attendant to help to pump the gas. Basically you just have to sit in the car for Tamming Jaya Station and pay the fee after the tank is full.

From an empty tank, you can fill up with RM8.80 of gas at rate RM0.68 per litre.

On my switch there one square light on the left to indicate Petrol mode and 4 round lights on the right to indicate the level of gas pressure in the tank. Once it reach the last round light, you can still use your car as normal and when it will blink which indicate that it is almost empty. Then you have to switch back to petrol mode.

How does the switch operate? If the switch was on the left hand side, it mean operating on Petrol mode and right hand side is operating on Gas mode. There is a Idle mode on the middle of the switch where you use it to burn all the remaining Petrol before switching to Gas mode.

If you need to switch from Petrol to Gas, you have to turn to Idle Mode to burn off the remaining Petrol in the Carburetor then only you can turn to Gas Mode, else your car will be jerking.
If you need to switch from Gas to Petrol, you do not need to turn to Idle Mode. Just turn to Petrol Mode on the left hand side of the switch immediately. This is because the gas can be burn out much faster then petrol.

You can start your car either in Gas or Petrol Mode. For Gas mode might need to press the pedal a bit to pump the gas in the carburetor to start the car faster. Mean if you in Gas Mode and you fill in your gas tank on time when it almost empty, mean you will hardly turn back to Petrol mode unless you need more pickup during in hurry or where there is not station for you to fill in Natural Gas.

My first experience of NGV summary:
The pickup is lesser comparing to the Petrol version. You have to press the pedal harder to push the car. Maybe my car is heavy and my plug is old. That's why the pick up is not that great. But when it reach a certain speed, its run as normal.
I was driving my car to work, so I don't need a great pick up as the morning rush hour traffic is bad. Most of the time my car is idle or slow.

Installation of CNG / NGV conversion kit into my car

I am driving a Wira 1.5 Aeroback carburetor, a locally made car in Malaysia.

After doing some research online about CNG / NGV conversion kits. Below are the pro and cons

Here are the list of reasons to install the CNG / NGV conversion kit (PROs):
- More economical / efficient combustion(1.5L car running 150km only spend on RM8.50)
- Cleaner engine and environment friendly. Reduce global warming.
- Due to cleaner engine oil oil filter will be cleaner and there save more money in car maintenance
- Natural Gas is much cheaper. Is always more than half the petrol price per litre. Petrol price in Malaysia will increase if world oil increase.
- Improving national security by easing this country's dependence on foreign oil and can reduce government subsidy money which can be used to develop the country
- CNG / LPG / NGV conversion kits are tax free
- Road tax Reduction by 25% for duel-fuel vehicle
- More Natural Gas station will be available in coming future.
- Safe (not easily combusible). Natural gas is ligther than air, thus easily diffuses when exposed to air therefore it make it safer in potential exposure. For the past 50 years of supply, there was no record of human damage.

Of course there are (CONs) as well:
- Need to install a cylinder at the back of the car about the size of home gas cylinder. Slighly bigger. There is a smaller cylinder available. FYI even though you get a big cylinder, you will not get the whole tank fill up as the gas station will only fill up at a certain pressure level and stop. Request for a smaller cylinder tank.
- Natural Gas burning mode pickup is not as good as petrol mode. If you were to drive in KL during the morning and evening rush hour, it is alright as most of the time your car will be low speed.
- Need to find the right time to fill in the gas. If you fill in at KLCC, basically it is very fast as there are more than 10 stations there. Others places, try to avoid filling during peak hours that is morning and evening. Certain station like at Taming Jaya and Seri Kembangan queue are shorter.

Finally I have made up my mind and decided to install the conversion kit on my car.

I have called up the Petronas officer to sent my a list of Installation site and LPG station.

After doing a long list of calling and comparing, finally I was engaged with a person to buy the LPG kit.

On 15 December 2005, I sent my car for CNG / NGV kit installation at Jalan 222. Installation was done by a local authorised conversion installation site and my kit was bought from a a local dealer that supply for BRC brand LPG conversion kit. This brand was made in Italy. According to my friend from India and the supplier, Italy so far have the best LPG kit in the market.

The installation was completed on 16 December 2005 evening.
The installation for Carburetor car are around RM2600 to RM3000 (~USD700 to USD800) and for Fuel injection is from RM4000 to RM5000 ( ~USD1100 to USD1350) including the LPG kits, LPG cylinder tank and installation fees. (Everything).

I have made an agreement with the conversion kit dealer to help to promote his kit online in the internet. Their services is very good and friendly. If you are interested, please write to philipngcc@gmail.com for actual price enquiry for the conversion kits and installation site. Please provide your mobile number, we will contact you.
